Tapping F8 on startup with your model will take you to the Windows Advanced Options menu.  To get to BIOS, you need to use the F2 key on boot.

To boot from USB on your model:

  • Shut the PC down completely
  • Begin tapping the F2 key as soon as you press the power button to access BIOS
  • Use the arrow keys to access the Advanced tab in BIOS
  • Select External Drive Boot and change the setting to Enabled
  • Arrow over to the Boot tab and make sure that USB Device is set in the boot order so that it is above the internal hard drive
  • Arrow over to the Exit heading in BIOS and select Save Changes, press the Enter key
  • Select Yes and press Enter to confirm the changes
  • Select Exit Setup and press Enter twice to confirm exit

At this point the laptop will reboot, and after you plug in the USB drive, it should boot to it the next time you reboot the PC.  If not, there is a possibility that the USB flash drive is not properly configured as a bootable device.
